SEARA, Ana
Born in Coimbra, Ana Seara is one of the most prominent Portuguese composers today. Winner of the 1st and 2nd Prize at the Póvoa de Varzim International Composition Competition, nominated for the 1st Prize for Young Composers at the Verbier Festival 2013, she was also ‘Young composer in residence’ at Casa da Mússica - 2014. Recent seasons include the premieres of “Sinfonia (Des)Concertante”, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, the Opera “Até Que A Morte Nos Separe”, at OperaFest Lisboa, the orchestration of 3 Heroic Songs by Fernando Lopes-Graça, commissioned by the Festa do Avante, and the Artistic Residencies at the Victor Córdon Studios and the Gulbenkian Foundation. She is the founder and Artistic Director of the Capdeville Ensemble and Professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. His works have been premiered by Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Sinfónica Casa da Música, Remix Ensemble, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Teatro Nacional de S. Carlos, Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Fundación Albéniz, Grand Theâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, Theaterakademie August Everding, Festival d 'Aix-en-Provence, among others. She has a special interest in co-creating music for children and young musicians.
