Giovanna Douglas Scotti Della Scala was born into an aristocratic family in Forlì, Italy, in 1889 and moved to Milan after becoming orphaned, where she pursued various artistic interests including painting, ceramics, piano, singing, and literature. Despite her multifaceted artistic career, her work was largely erased from music history, and only a few surviving publications have allowed her compositions and legacy to be rediscovered.
Her song "Serenata" is featured on the CD "HOMAGE. Women composers from Brazil & Italy".
