MANNONE, Maria
    Maria Mannone is a composer and a theoretical physicist. She is active as a composer and as an improviser. Her music has been performed by the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, during the Orestiadi di Gibellina (Italy), and at the Art Quarter Festival in Minneapolis. In Italy, she graduated in Theoretical Physics, as well as in Orchestral Conducting, Composition, and Piano. In France, at IRCAM-UPMC Paris VI Sorbonne, she achieved the Master 2 ATIAM (Acoustics, Signal Processing, and Computer Sciences applied to Music). In the US, at the University of Minnesota, she gained her Ph.D. She conceptualized the CubeHarmonic, a musical instrument based on the Rubik's cube, developed in collaboration with the Tohoku University in Japan.
Author of articles and books on mathematics, nature, and music, she is associate editor for the Journal of Mathematics and Music and the Journal of Mathematics and the Arts. Her drawings have been displayed at the Mathematical Art Galleries in the US. Genres: Orchestral, Chamber Music, Art Songs, Improvisation.
