Tess Callaghan is an Irish singer-songwriter and composer of her own music. Originally from Wicklow, Ireland, she has built an independent musical career around songwriting, recording and performing, with a style that moves between indie pop, folk rock and singer-songwriter traditions.
Callaghan has released a substantial body of original work, including several albums written and recorded independently. Her songs often combine melodic pop writing with literary, personal and poetic themes. She received critical attention for songs such as Favourite Director, I Stand Alone, Reverse Rewind, The Three Graces and Sylvie’s Hat, and later developed a strong connection with the poetry of Lord Byron through her Byron-inspired songs.
One of her notable projects is He Walks in Beauty, in which she sets and reimagines Byron’s famous poem in an indie pop context. The song formed part of her wider engagement with Byron’s poetry and was connected with her album The Burren. Her work places her among contemporary independent women songwriters whose creative practice combines composition, performance, recording and literary adaptation.
