Née Brentano. Also known as Elisabeth Catharina Ludovica Magdalena Brentano and Countess of Arnim. German writer and novelist. 'She was the archetype of the Romantic era's zeitgeist.' As well as an author, Arnim was a composer - unconventionally blending folk tunes, historical themes, and unusual harmonies, lengths, and improvisations.
