Mary Worgan (1717-1768) was born in London and was part of a musical family including the organists James Worgan (1713-1753) and Dr. John Worgan (1724-90). She was known for the song ‘The Dying Nightingale’ written in 1740, which was extremely popular during the mid-eighteenth century.
