Notes:

Visvavara (Sanskrit: विश्ववारा) was a woman seer and composer of the Rig Veda, belonging to the Atri family of priestly lineages. She is recognized among the 27 brahmavadini — women authors and seers — who contributed hymns to the Rig Veda.

The hymn attributed to Visvavara is Rig Veda 5.28, a six‑verse devotional piece. In it, she approaches the blazing sacrificial fire at dawn, facing east, offering oblations to the gods, and praying for love, happiness, and a well‑regulated married life. The verses praise the fire as the “lord of immortality” and invoke blessings for domestic harmony.
