VARGAS, Carmen Aguilera

Carmen Aguilar Vargas is a Professor of Musical Education UMCE, holding a Diploma in Composition. She completed her MA degree at the Escuela Moderna Professional Institute, with a mention in Musical Composition. Her most significant teachers have been: Jimena Eliz Becerra, Carlos Silva, Toly Ramírez, Mario Baracaldo. Cirilo Vila and Aliocha Solovera.

She has received the Fundación Andes, Fondart Chile and Fundación Cristancho Colombia scholarships for advanced studies in Musical Composition and Modern Jazz. She has also received awards: In Cinema musical category, with the work Sonata by David Mathies, Curitiba Brazil. In Spain in musical composition with the work Heavenly Treasure by the Tribuna Sax Ensamble, premiere Círculo de Bellas Artes Madrid Spain. In Chile Blue Prize University of Chile.

She has participated as a composer and pianist in National and International Festivals of Contemporary Music, popular music and jazz.

She stands out in the Teatro Libre International Jazz Festival and the Bogotá Colombia International Traveling Song Festival, and the Panama Jazz Festival as an exhibitor and Tribute Concert to Chile. The national El Bosque Jazz Festivals, the Valparaíso Jazz International Festival and the ChilEuropa International Festival. Contemporary Music Festivals, University of Chile, Pontificia Universidad Católica, Festival Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and Festival Universidad Austral de Valdivia.

She currently works as a Professor at the Uniacc Chile University.
