VAN DEN BRANDELER, Henriëtte

Hendrika Jacoba (Henriëtte) van den Brandeler was a Dutch composer.

She was born into the family of military officer (then Lieutenant) Louis Christiaan van den Brandeler and Christina Petronella Greve. In 1914 she became the second wife of architect George van Heukelom, later chairman of the Utrecht Symphony Orchestra, among other roles. In 2016, a bridge in Amsterdam-Zuid was named after her.

She received her musical education from Johan Wagenaar at the Utrecht Society for the Promotion of the Arts. Afterwards, she continued her studies with Bernard Zweers (the couples became friends) in Amsterdam, and Dirk Schäfer and Walter Braunfels in Munich . She accompanied singers from behind the piano.

A number of song collections (Three Songs, opus 2, etc.) were published by her. Furthermore, she would publish songs with music publisher AA Noske. Some of her other compositions include:

- a requiem for her deceased father (who died in 1911), which was performed in Naarden under the direction of conductor Johan Schoonderbeek .
- a Stabat Mater , performed on June 28, 1913 by the Concertgebouw Orchestra under the direction of the same Schoonderbeek with Thom Denijs , Pauline de Haan-Manifarges , Aaltje Noordewier-Reddingius and Georg Walter , the performance took place in Naarden
- Missa Gaudete in Domino.
