Ruth Forsström Vaaranen (1889–1974) was a Finnish composer, pianist, music theorist, and educator. She studied composition and theory with Erkki Melartin at the Helsinki Music Institute and developed a close friendship with fellow composer Helvi Leiviskä. After graduating, she taught music theory, ear training, and piano at the Viipuri Music Institute and later at the Sibelius Academy. Although she showed promise as a composer, few of her works survive and none were published.
