Notes:

Folk duo and songwriters Union Jill (Sharon Winfield and Helen Turner) regularly tour the country with their music, opening up a feminist dialogue with many different types of audiences. From folk clubs to festivals and
arts centres to village halls, for the last decade they have honed their skills as musicians and
communicators, refining their 'activism through pedagogy' in order to raise consciousness of difficult
subjects, from violence against women to global campaign issues. They rarely 'preach to the converted'
and have developed techniques to cross over the performer/audience boundary in order to create a
collaborative learning experience at the same time as delivering highly entertaining music and comedy.
They also working with stand-up poet Kate Fox, sharing their passions for justice and equality.
