Beck Turro is a composer recognized for creating "incredibly serene and so evocative" works. Their compositions blend tuneful melodies with intricate timbres, fusing elements of ambience, minimalism, romanticism, and the avant-garde to create what they term "sonic collages." Turro's orchestral and chamber music has been performed by various ensembles across the United States.
Turro's compositions are published by Akropolis Works, Trevco Music Publishing, and Turro Music (ASCAP). They are a recipient of the 2022 ICEBERG Institute call for scores, the 2020 Louis Smadbeck Composition Award, and the 2020 Kenosha Community Foundation commission. Turro also leads an ambient project called Beck Rose, which combines classical piano and clarinet with electronics. Turro holds degrees from Rutgers University and Ithaca College, where they also taught. Currently based in Tucson, Arizona, Turro teaches piano, theory, and composition, and performs with the ensemble Compersion.
