Izabela Targońska (born March 19, 1947) is a Polish composer, music theorist, and educator born in Warsaw. Active as a composer from approximately 1970 to 2010, she has written several dozen works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, and symphony orchestra. Alongside her compositional career, Targońska has been an influential specialist in ear training and music theory, authoring academic textbooks and numerous articles for students of composition, conducting, and sound engineering. She has taught at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where she became head of the Inter-University Department of Ear Training in 2015. Her contributions to music education and scholarship have received numerous honors from the university and the Polish Ministry of Culture and Arts.
