Notes:

Marija Luiza Tajčević was a nineteenth-century Serbian pianist and composer whose surviving work reflects the influence of Serbian folk music within the Romantic tradition. A skilled pianist, she frequently performed her own compositions in concert, writing primarily short character pieces that showcased her technical abilities and lyrical style. Her only known surviving composition is Ti si rajski cvet, Op. 1, a set of variations on a popular Serbian folk melody. Although little of her music has survived, Tajčević occupies a place in Serbian musical history both as one of the country's early women composers and as the grandmother of the distinguished twentieth-century composer Marko Tajčević.
