Schmelkes founded an atypical choir, the No Coro, with which he proposed to break with the stereotypes of a choir: a lot of people with scores and long dresses, a person directing in front and singing on a stage.

It may sound nice, but to the choral director it seems "very hierarchical and vertical." No Coro breaks that hierarchy of composer-director-interpert. It is a choral scenic collective made up of amateur singers, music students and professional musicians.

Something she also defends as a composer, one of her principles is the content of the music, she must convey a message.
