Helen Schafmeister was a pianist and composer. She made her stage debut at the age of 11. Then she studied with the pianists William Barber (a pupil of Franz Liszt) and Ernesto Berumen, and with the composer Frank La Farge. Schafmeister a successful career as a concert pianist in USA, and also recognized as composer of vocal music.
