Martina Schäfer was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1952. Her mother played the cello in the “Orchestra of the State Government” and was a member of a string quartet. Her grandmother taught piano and was an organist in a small town in southern Germany.
Love drew her to Switzerland, where Martina Schäfer took singing, composition and organ lessons, was a member of a choral choir and sings in a chamber choir, a small opera choir ensemble and the St. Gallen Cathedral Choir.
The first of her larger compositions were published by the publishing house “Müller & Schade” in Bern in 2011.
