Pepita Llunell i Sanahuja was a Catalan composer, singer, actress and dancer, recognized mainly for her contribution to the sardana field. At the age of three she began performing at the Sants Catholic Centre and from the age of 9 she studied music theory, piano and singing at the Liceu Conservatory. She continued her studies at the Institut del Teatre (declamation) and the Barcelona Municipal School of Music. She expanded her musical training with her future husband, the composer Fèlix Martínez i Comín.
