Notes:

Lydia Sophia Sale (1805-1869) was a pianist and the daughter of John Bernard Sale, a professor of music. Little is recorded of Lydia’s early years and young adulthood, but her upbringing in Westminster, within a musical household, likely shaped the path that led to her professional recognition. By 1839 she had become a member of the Royal Society of Female Musicians.
