She began her studies in composition in September 1863 at the National School of Music in Madrid, where she studied under Emilio Arrieta. She participated in the public composition competitions held in June 1876, winning first prize. She later won awards in other composition competitions. She was also noted for her dedication to music education and died in 1934.
