OSETROVA-YAKOVLIEVA, Nina Alexandrovna

Nina Aleksandrovna Osetrova-Yakovleva was born on November 20, 1923, in Petrograd. In 1952, she graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory, where she studied composition with V.V. Voloshinov (she had previously studied with V.V. Shcherbachev). From 1940, she was an accompanist for amateur groups, and from 1946 to 1950, she was an accompanist for the Leningrad Children's Puppet Theater, the Teacher's House, and the radio. From 1955, she taught at children's music schools. She wrote ballets, works for choir and symphony orchestras, instrumental works, incidental music for plays, and songs. She was a member of the Composers' Union from 1953.
