Austrian cellist and composer Elisabeth Naske studied cello at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Basel Conservatory (concert diploma 1987). She performed with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado and co-founded the Pascal Trio.
Beginning composition studies with Tristan Schulze in Vienna (1998–2003), Naske turned to music theatre for young audiences. She received opera commissions from the Wiener Volksoper, Wiener Staatsoper, Theater Luzern, and the Salzburg Festival (2021). Her works, published by Schott, have been performed at venues including the Vienna Musikverein, Cologne Philharmonie, Philharmonie de Paris, and Komische Oper Berlin. In 2017 she was composer-in-residence at the Festival St. Gallen/Stmk, and her recent output extends to choral, orchestral, and chamber music.
