Maria-Dimitra "Maro" Baveli is a Greek composer and musicologist who was born in Athens. She studied music at a conservatory and pursued musicology at the Department of Musical Studies of the University of Athens. Since April 2008, she has been working on her doctorate in musicology at the University of Athens, focusing on the aesthetic analysis and decodification of the graphical scores of the Greek avant-garde composer Anestis Logothetis (1921–1994), under the supervision of Professor Olympia Psychopedi.
In parallel with her musicological research, Baveli continued her composition studies at the Hochschule für Musik „Franz Liszt" in Weimar, Germany, under Professor Michael Obst. Her compositional work has been performed in Germany, Austria, and Greece.
Baveli has participated in several international conferences and seminars, including the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2010, where she was selected as a composer and sound designer. She has also presented research on graphic notation and the works of Anestis Logothetis at conferences such as the 5th Sound and Music Computing International Conference (SMC08) in Berlin in 2008. Her research interests include graphic scores, decodification of visual notation systems, and the intersection of musicology and composition.
