Notes:

Nadile Lacaz de Barros Marcarián [elsewhere Macariam] was a pianist and composer from Sao Paulo born in 1914. She studied the piano under under Suzanna de Figueiredo at the Conservatorio de Musica do Distrito Federal in Rio de Janeiro, graduating in 1934. Then, she became professor of harmony at the Conservatorio de Musica do Distrito Federal in 1932-1960. De Barros was her maiden name and she seems to have taken the married name Marcarián at some point before 1940.

She is one of very few women composers to be linked to the nationalist tradition of erudite Brazilian classical music in Maria Augusta Joppert's secondary school textbook: "EDUCAÇÃO MUSICAL NO CURSO SECUNDÁRIO – Canta Brasil" (1967).

She is best remembered for her dansas, with at least one written for solo cello, and another for orchestra.
