Notes:

Aura Lahonen is one of Finland's best-known composers of gymnastics music. Born in Ruovesi, she studied piano, solo singing and organ from 1916-1917 at the Helsinki Music Institute, then returned from 1924–1926 to study singing, choral pedagogy and music theory. In the early stages of her career in the 1920s and 1930s, she worked as an accompanist and composer for gymnastics performances, as well as a music teacher at the Finnish Women's Sports Education Association's gymnastics courses at the Varala Sports Institute, which had been established in Tampere as a development center for women's physical education. She went on to compose music for hundreds of gymnastics and dance performances. Her music, mainly written for piano, gained recognition at national mass performances and gymnastics celebrations. Critics of gymnastics music praised Lahonen for her ability to express movement, support gymnastics, and facilitate the gymnasts' work.
