Jeanne Virginie Berthe Volkmann was born in 1882 in Blida, French-occupied Algeria. In 1916, during the first world war, she composed "Revanche: Marche militaire" for voice and piano. The piece was dedicated to the French military general Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre. An orchestration was also available. Laborde-Volkmann also composed one known operetta buffa, the one-act "Rose Petal", which premiered in 1920 at the Nouveau-Théatre in Algeria.
