Mady Kirsten is best known by her pseudonym Mady Dotrange . She was born in the municipality of Schaerbeek in Brussels on January 11, 1903 and died on April 7, 1992.

She entered the Royal Conservatory of Brussels at the age of 12, where she studied piano intensively . During this time, she became friends with one of her classmates, Jacqueline de Keysel. The two women remained friends for a very long time.

Mady became a formidable pianist, and her favorite composers were Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt. She also gave piano lessons at her home.

She also tried her hand at singing and in 1950 won the grand prize for song. She ended her days in a hospice in the Belgian capital.
