Narine Khachatryan, born on June 28, 1979 in Yerevan, Armenia, is a multi-award-winning composer with an impressive musical career.

Her musical journey began at the Armen Tigranian Music School in Yerevan, where she received her first music lessons at the age of eight. Even in her early years, her inclination towards composition was evident, prompting her teachers to recommend composition lessons. As part of these lessons, she created her first compositions at the age of twelve, including "Puppet Dance" for piano, "Night" for soprano and piano, and "Fantasy" for violin and piano, which were regularly performed at the music school.

Khachatryan studied composition at the Yerevan Conservatory from 1996 to 2001 under the tutelage of Edward Mirsoyan. During this time, she received several awards at the Aram Khachatryan Competition and won first prize at the Armenian Composers' Union Composition Competition in 1997. She continued her artistic development at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where she was admitted in 2003 on a DAAD scholarship and completed her master's studies under Prof. H.J. von Bose.

Khachatryan has received numerous awards, including the Bavarian Composition Prize 2024 (more information here ), third prize at the 32nd Siegburg Composition Competition, a scholarship from the Hauser Hermann Guitar Foundation (2008-2009), the sponsorship prize and the interpretation prize of the Bialas Composition Competition in 2004, as well as the Handel Prize of the City of Halle. Her award-winning composition "Visions" was premiered in Halle in 2001 by the Sur Plus Ensemble.

The composer has received numerous commissions, including from the Via Nova Choir (2024), the Siemens Arts Program (2005), the City of Munich (Biennale 2007), Musica Femina (2008), the Hauser Hermann Foundation (2007-2008), the Kassel Music Days 2009, the Young Euro Classic Festival 2011, the Monika Drasch Trio, and the Camerata 21 Ensemble. A large portion of her compositions has been published by Verlag für Neue Musik in Berlin and Furore Verlag.
