KAVASCH, Deborah

Deborah Kavasch is an educator, composer, and soprano specializing in extended vocal techniques. She has received grants and residencies for her composition and performance work, appearing in major international music centers and festivals. Her compositions have been commissioned and performed across North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, and China.

Kavasch's work has been recognized by critics, with her vocal performances described as having "articulate radiance" and "astonishing range and agility." Her compositions have been called "electrifying" and "psychological mood-painting." Her recording of "Desert Storm" by the London Symphony Orchestra was released in April 2023. Kavasch is a Professor of Music and Coordinator of Music Theory/Composition at California State University, Stanislaus, where she has been a faculty member since 1979.
