Charlotte Kaufmann (1880–1960) was not a professional composer, but rather a Danish-born pianist and musician best known historically as the long-time muse and romantic correspondent of the German poet Alfred Mombert. A talented pianist who lived abroad (frequently in London) while maintaining an intense, lifelong epistolary love affair with Alfred Mombert, inspiring much of his mystic poetry under her Sanskrit-derived pen name, Vasanta (meaning "spring").
