KASTEELEN, Ilse Van De

Ilse van de Kasteelen is a Dutch singer, vocal coach, and composer. She studied bassoon and solo singing at conservatories in Amsterdam and Hilversum, and furthered her vocal studies with various teachers. Van de Kasteelen has performed as a soloist in oratorios, recitals, operas, and contemporary music theater, participating in Dutch and world premieres, radio, and television recordings, and various festivals.

Her operatic debut was in the female lead role of "Progress Passion" at the Muziektheater in Amsterdam. She has been a guest with orchestras such as the Noord-Hollands Philharmonisch Orkest and the Residentie Orkest, and with ensembles including the Nieuw Ensemble and the Ives Ensemble. Van de Kasteelen has also performed at the Koninklijk Concertgebouw under conductors Ricardo Chailly and Esa-Pekka Salonen. She has also trained as an Breath and Relaxation Therapist, an expertise she integrates into her vocal teaching.

In addition to her performance career, Van de Kasteelen is a composer, creating works for Taller Amsterdam, including operas, music theater productions, choral works, and song cycles. She also works as a vocal coach, offering lessons and workshops on breath, voice use, singing, and music theater to various individuals and groups.
