American pianist, choral conductor, teacher and composer. New York, January 29, 1912. She started private piano lessons at the age of five and studied the piano and harmony under August Walther between the ages of ten and 18. She went to Paris until 1935, to study the piano at the Ecole Normale under Mme. Vuilliard, Di Gueraldi and Alfred Cortot and counterpoint under Nadia Boulanger (q.v.). She studied form privately under Annette Dieudonne and the piano under Lazar Levy.
