JUNG, Margarete

Margarete Jung (1906–1986) was a German composer, pianist, and music educator. Educated in Germany during the interwar period, she pursued comprehensive studies in piano performance, music theory, and composition, later dedicating much of her professional life to pedagogy and regional musical life.

As a composer, Jung focused primarily on small-scale forms, producing a catalogue that includes piano pieces, chamber music, and pedagogical works tailored for students, alongside vocal lieder and choral settings. Her compositions reflect early-to-mid 20th-century German harmonic traditions, combining approachable instructional craft with expressive lyricism.
