Maja Lučić Jovanović (Obrenovac, February 24, 1980) completed the theory and piano departments (in the class of Mirjana Đorđević) at the Slavenski Music School, and graduated in composition from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of Zoran Erić in 2006. Subsequently, she attended seminars and professional courses both at home and abroad, such as the Young Composers Meeting in the Dutch city of Apeldoorn in 2004 with Louis Andriessen, Martijn Padding, Richard Ayres, and Rodney Sharman; a composition workshop in Bayreuth in 2003 with James Clarke; and "New Music" in The Hague in 2004. She also attended a course on recording and sound engineering led by Đorđe Petrović in Belgrade in 2002. In recent years, she has been engaged in pedagogical work, and since 2007, she has served as the conductor of the "Vavedenje Presvete Bogorodice" children's choir from Obrenovac.
She composes music for children, a pursuit that has led to the simplification of her musical vocabulary and the use of simpler forms and more moderate harmonies. Her works include: *Nello spazio senza il tempo* for three orchestras (2006), *Promenada životinja* for nine instruments (2004), *If I Should Die* for high male voice and 14 instruments set to a text by Benjamin Franklin, composed for the Dutch ensemble De Ereprijs (2004), *Instead of Intermezzo* for solo cello (2003), Sonata for two pianos (2002), Piano Pieces for the Youngest (2007), *Miholjsko leto* for female voice
