Madeleine Jaeger entered the Paris Conservatory at a very young age; by 1878, she had won a First Medal in solfège, followed by a First Medal in preparatory piano in 1880. She went on to complete the full curriculum at the institution, studying accompaniment under Bazille (First Prize in 1885), harmony under Lenepveu (First Prize in 1886), piano under Duvernoy (First Prize in 1889), and composition under Guiraud (First Prize in counterpoint and fugue in 1891), thereby becoming the first woman to earn six awards at the Conservatory.

Upon completing her studies, she became a renowned concert artist; she premiered Chabrier's *Bourrée fantasque* at a Société Nationale de Musique concert in 1893[6], performed regularly as a soloist with the Concerts Lamoureux, organized thematic recitals, and accompanied the violinist Jacques Thibaud.
