Helvi Isosomppi, pursued a career as a music educator. From 1929 to 1933, she studied violin, piano, music theory, and composition, under the guidance of Leevi Madetoja and Erkki Melartin. Isosomppi wrote the lyrics for some of her songs herself. Networks of female musicians were likely important to Isosomppi, and she was the first treasurer of the Helsinki Women’s Orchestra, founded in 1938.
