ILMONI, Sigrid

Sigrid Ilmoni was a Finnish music educator, choir director, and composer. Born into a progressive and musically active family in Hakunila (modern-day Vantaa), she received an extensive early education in music and various academic subjects from her mother, Natalia Crohns, a teacher and founder of the Helsinki Women's Association.

Though she composed music—including works for the Vårförening choir, such as the setting of Wilhelmina Nordström’s poem Vad drömde rosen om?—most of her compositions are unfortunately lost, with only a few fragmentary manuscripts preserved in the Sibelius Museum.
