Nina Yakovlevna Illyutovich was born on November 21 (8), 1906, in St. Petersburg. She graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in piano in 1928. She studied composition in Moscow with N.A. Roslavets and S.A. Khalatov. From 1924, she worked as a pianist in various concert organizations. She worked in the field of concert and popular music. She wrote songs, romances, and pieces for popular-music orchestras.
