HYLIN, Birgitta

Stina Birgitta Charlotta Hylin , born July 24, 1915 in Kungsholm parish , Stockholm , died April 6, 1998 in Solna , was a Swedish translator , song composer and singer.

Birgitta Hylin produced a handful of translations of children's books from Danish , Norwegian and English between 1946 and 1950. A two-grade essay in 1971 on nursery rhymes and songs in the Faroe Islands then gave a hint of the direction her further translation work would take; after the anthology Noveller från Fåröarna in 1976 she would concentrate entirely on translating from Faroese .

She appears in the short film Ett ögonblik redaktörn (A Moment in the Editor ) (1941). Her most successful song was the composition of Erik Axel Karlfeldt's "Sommerdansen". As far as is known, the only recording with her as a singer is "En rosen visa med elskog" on the LP Vispråmen Storken 2 (released by Metronome in 1970).
