HOFMANINGER, Lisa

Born in 1991 in Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria, Lisa Hofmaninger is a celebrated jazz musician, composer, and educator who has established herself as a dynamic and innovative artist in the world of jazz and improvised music. Known for her playing of the soprano saxophone and bass clarinet, she is a versatile artist who focuses on her current projects, compositions, and teaching.
Hofmaninger's musical journey began with studies in jazz saxophone at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and at the Pôle Supérieur Paris-Boulogne Billancourt in Paris, from which she graduated with honors in 2017. Her career is characterized by a constant search for new sounds and interdisciplinary projects, in which she explores the boundaries between composition and free improvisation.
Hofmaninger is a sought-after musician known for balancing her own projects with collaborations with established artists.

you promised me poems: A duo with guitarist Helmut Jasbar.
Literary collaborations: She has considerable experience in the musical interpretation of literary works. Key examples include her project with writer Ilse Helbich entitled "Es sind Trauben von Blüten..." (There are grapes of blossoms...) and her collaboration with acclaimed writer Renate Welsh on the project "Ich habe aufgehört aufgeben" (I have stopped giving up), which premiered at Jazzit in Salzburg in January 2026.
A collaboration with the Mexican band "A Love Electric," consisting of Todd Clouser (guitar), Aarón Cruz (bass), and Jorge Servin (drums).
Trio Sicilienne: A trio with singer Maria Hauer and pianist Anneliese Schneider, performing traditional songs from southern Italy.

DUO hofmaninger/schwarz: A highly successful and experimental duo with drummer Judith Schwarz, whose "Sound Collector" project explores cultural dialogue through music.

Hofmaninger was a key long-time member and significant influence in several successful bands such as chuffdrone, Little Rosies Kindergarten, and First Gig Never Happened, as well as Christian Muthspiel's Orjazztra Vienna and Gina Schwarz's Pannonica Project.
Hofmaninger has performed at major international festivals, including the Moers Festival, the Saalfelden Jazz Festival, and the Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival. She is known for her virtuosic playing and an insatiable curiosity that keeps her music in a state of constant evolution.
In addition to her work as a musician, she teaches at the Upper Austrian State Music School. She also hosts a radio show, "Lisa's Jazzbus," in which she interviews fellow artists.
