Rose de Haven was a composer of popular music, and a singer, dancer and actress who performed in vaudeville, theatre and also made a number of film appearances. She was born in Chicago, Illinois as Rose Elisabeth O'Callaghan into an Irish immigrant family and had two younger brothers David and Francis. Francis, a dancer, took the stage name of Carter de Haven inspiring Rose and David to do the same sometime later. Rose de Haven is probably best known for her Carolina Chimes (1904) and her characteristic two-step Automobile (1907). She died in Los Angeles.
