HARTLEY, Jen

Jen Hartley is an acclaimed British composer, pianist, and music educator who serves as the Associate Composer for the Cumbria Opera Group. Her diverse portfolio spans opera, ballet, and choral works, with critics describing her musical style as "rich, elastic and electric."A highly qualified academic, Hartley holds degrees from Cambridge and York, alongside a PhD from the Royal Northern College of Music. Her prominent compositions include the chamber opera Kings, Witches, Lovers, and Souls and the Lakeland Song Cycle. Alongside composing, she teaches at Chetham's School of Music and performs widely as a freelance accompanist and choral director.
