HARLEY, Cathy

Cathy Harley is a jazz composer and performer. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for an Associate Diploma in Jazz Studies, and her teachers have included Mike Nock, Roger Frampton, Benny Green and Jimmy Smith. She was accepted to study with Ellis Marsalis and Kenny Barron in 1996.

Harley has been the recipient of multiple awards for her jazz compositions and performances, including an Australia Council Grant to record her original compositions to lyrics by Kate Swadling, the Jazz Action Society Composition Award (1994 and 1995), and second place in the National Piano Contest held at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival in 1992.
