Sarah Josepha Hale (born Sara Josepha Buell) was the composer of the nursery rhyme, "Mary had a Little Lamb", along with a book of children's poems. She was an editor for Godey's Lady's Book, a magazine in Boston, and petitioned for Thanksgiving to be a national holiday.
