HAIMSOHN, Naomi Levine

Naomi Levine Haimsohn , 96, a composer and concert pianist who was the Woman of Distinction of the National League of American Penwomen in 1975, died at B'nai B'rith Home. Born in New York, she made her concert debut at Carnegie Hall when she was 8 and was teaching when she was 14. She began teaching and giving concerts in Memphis after her family moved to Rolling Fork, Miss., and she soon became a permanent resident of Memphis. Besides composing, Mrs. Haimsohn taught music training in the public schools. Her music scale chart, along with her music theory and practice lessons, have been used throughout the world by music students. She was a member of Anshei Sphard Temple and Penwomen's Club, and a charter and life member of Senior Hadassah and the Beethoven Club.
