Born in Tegucigalpa, the largest city in Honduras, Haertling was a teacher and composer. She was the associate director of the Conservatory Mariana Ugarte and taught piano at many schools in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She studied with Laureano Campos. Haertling's death date is unknown.
Some of her works include Elena (polka for piano) and General Francisco Morazán (march for piano).
