Mildred Alvine Gardner was an American pianist and composer born in Quincy, Illinois. She studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory. Unfortunately, arthritis brought her performing career to an early end, and she moved to western Pennsylvania, where she continued to compose and teach. She remained on the faculty at Carlow College in Pittsburgh until her mid-eighties and died in Greensburg at the age of ninety-five.
