Gertraud Gamerith is an Austrian composer and violinist born in Graz in 1941. She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. After teaching for ten years at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, she spent three decades as leader of the Gamerith Consort. Her compositions focus primarily on violin chamber music and art songs, often combining music with poetry or visual art. She has a particular affinity for the Lied, frequently pairing the human voice with the violin.
