Eva Fodor is a Romanian-born Israeli-German composer, conductor, and oboist born in 1979. She is recognized as one of the few prominent female composers specializing in symphonic wind band music, alongside her extensive work in 20th and 21st-century contemporary classical music. The core of Eva Fodor’s work is the transgression and synthesis of musical genres and eras, connecting ancient cultural heritage with multi-dimensional, modern perspectives.Her most famous piece for concert band is Israeli Folk Songs, published by the German label Musikverlag Rundel. In this work, she blends traditional Jewish melodies from Morocco, Tunisia, and Yemen ("Zur Mishelo Achalnu" and "Kirya yefeyfiya") with Western European harmonic structures and body percussion rhythms.
