FIGUEIREDO, Letícia de

Letícia Onofre de Figueiredo was a mid-20th-century Brazilian singer and composer born in Rio de Janeiro. Her legacy includes 52 compositions (like Sinfonia do Morro). She began her career playing the guitar and singing traditional folk songs. It was only later in life that she formalized her classical training, studying lyric singing under Roberta Gonçalves de Brito and Mathilde Bailly. For her composition and fugue studies, she attended the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música, learning under Professor Paulo Silva. She also took courses at the Museu de Arte Moderna and the Instituto de Belas Artes.
